Warren Foegele scored twice, including the decisive goal in the third period, as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Seattle Kraken 5-3 on Saturday night.

Evan Bouchard and Connor McDavid each contributed a goal and an assist, while Colton Sceviour also found the back of the net for the Oilers, who have now won two consecutive games after a six-game losing streak. Leon Draisaitl added three assists, and Stuart Skinner made 14 saves in the win.

The game marked Foegele’s first multi-goal performance of the season.

“He’s such a fast, energetic player,” said Oilers associate coach Jim Playfair. “He drove hard to their net and was rewarded for it.”

Foegele’s go-ahead goal, with about 11 minutes remaining, was initially disallowed due to goalie interference. While scoring, he collided with Chris Driedger. However, after review, it was determined that Foegele was pushed into the goalie, and the goal stood.

“I knew I wasn’t in the crease and was pushed in, but you never know with these calls,” Foegele said. “Just get to the net — good things happen when you’re in front of the goal.”

Ryan Donato, Jared McCann, and Carson Soucy scored for Seattle, with Jordan Eberle assisting on two goals. Chris Driedger made a season-high 36 saves, but the Kraken fell to 1-4-1 in their last six games.

“It was a tight game,” Kraken coach Dave Hakstol said. “We struggled to generate any momentum in the second and third periods. We couldn’t get through the neutral zone or establish a forecheck, so we had no momentum.”

The Kraken jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. Donato opened the scoring around four minutes in, marking his third straight game with a goal, tying his career-best streak. McCann followed up about five minutes later, scoring his 12th goal off a pass from Eberle, tying Eberle for the team lead.

The Oilers responded late in the first period. Bouchard scored with about seven minutes remaining, with a shot from the point that deflected off Driedger’s glove and into the net. Edmonton’s top-ranked power play tied the game three minutes later as Foegele pounced on a rebound to make it 2-2.

“Regardless of the score, you’ve got to keep playing the right way,” Foegele said. “We kept attacking, and when you’re relentless, it’s tough to play against. If you keep chipping away, eventually, the rock will break.”

The teams exchanged goals in the second period. Sceviour scored with seven minutes left, and Soucy equalized with 3 1/2 minutes remaining. McDavid sealed the game with an empty-net goal in the final minute.
