Brandon Tanev scored the game-winning goal with 3:39 remaining, leading the Seattle Kraken to a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night, extending Pittsburgh’s losing streak to seven games.
Tanev’s first goal of the season came against his former team. Yanni Gourde and Vince Dunn also scored for Seattle, while Martin Jones made 36 saves. The Kraken, now on a four-game winning streak, have won five of their last six games.
Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel scored for Pittsburgh, with Crosby also earning his 900th career assist. Guentzel’s goal tied the game 2-2, but Tanev’s late goal secured the win for Seattle.
“We beat three good teams,” Tanev said about the successful road trip.
Seattle has been consistent, scoring at least three goals in their last eight games. Their resilience was evident as they maintained composure throughout the match. Coach Dave Hakstol praised the team’s effort and unity.
Injuries have been an issue for both teams, with key players missing from the lineup.
