Samuel Helenius scored a pair of goals, and David Rittich stopped 28 shots as the Los Angeles Kings held off the Seattle Kraken 6-5 on Tuesday night, spoiling Seattle’s final home game of the season.
The Kings are locked into a first-round playoff matchup with the Edmonton Oilers. After giving up a 2-0 lead in the first period, Los Angeles surged with four consecutive goals during a stretch spanning the second and third periods.
Warren Foegele put the Kings back on top with 3:55 remaining in the second period, and Alex Laferriere extended the lead just over a minute later. Adrian Kempe and Helenius added goals early in the third to make it 6-2.
Seattle mounted a comeback bid behind goals from Jaden Schwartz, Matty Beniers, and Eeli Tolvanen but ultimately fell short.
Earlier in the game, the Kraken erased a two-goal deficit with a short-handed goal from Tye Kartye at 5:26 of the second period and a power-play strike from Brandon Montour at 13:24.
Joey Daccord made 18 saves in goal for Seattle.
