Josh Mahura scored his first goal of the season at 3:06 of overtime, propelling the Seattle Kraken to a 4-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

Mahura’s game-winner, a high shot that sailed past goaltender Anthony Stolarz, capped off a strong performance for Seattle. Seattle finally broke through after back-to-back overtime losses to Montreal and Ottawa to open its six-game road trip.

Shane Wright led the way offensively with a goal and an assist, while Jani Nyman and Vince Dunn also found the back of the net. Goalie Joey Daccord made 26 saves, and Mason Marchment added two assists to help power the Kraken to victory.

Toronto captain John Tavares scored twice, reaching the 500-point milestone in his Maple Leafs career. Morgan Rielly also scored, and Stolarz stopped 24 shots in the loss.

Tavares tied the game 3-3 early in the third period on a power play, but Seattle weathered the storm and took control in overtime.

Before the game, the Kraken arrived at Scotiabank Arena wearing Seattle Mariners jerseys — a nod to their baseball counterparts, who lead the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 in the American League Championship Series and are one win away from their first World Series berth.
