Owen Tippett scored twice and the Philadelphia Flyers rolled to a 5-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Monday night.
Travis Konecny, Tyson Foerster, and Noah Cates also scored for the Flyers, while Cam York collected three assists and Sean Couturier added two. Goaltender Dan Vladar stopped 21 shots as Philadelphia picked up its third win in four games.
For Seattle, Jordan Eberle and Jani Nyman provided the offense. The defeat snapped the Kraken’s five-game season-opening point streak (3-0-2). Joey Daccord allowed five goals on 21 shots before being replaced by Philipp Grubauer, who made six saves in the third period.
The Flyers broke the game open in the second period when Konecny and Cates scored 33 seconds apart to stretch the lead to 4-1. Konecny redirected a pass from Egor Zamula for his first of the season at 4:59, and Cates followed with a power-play tally at 5:32, tipping York’s point shot past Daccord.
Nyman briefly gave the Kraken life with a power-play goal at 8:33, but Tippett’s second of the night — and fifth of the season — at 15:40 restored Philadelphia’s three-goal cushion.
Seattle had opened the scoring at 7:16 of the first period when Eberle redirected Cale Fleury’s shot for his first of the year. Rookie Berkly Catton earned an assist on the play, marking his first NHL point in his debut.
The Flyers responded quickly with two goals less than four minutes apart. Tippett tied the game at 9:56, scoring for the third consecutive contest after a turnover forced by Couturier behind the net. Foerster then capitalized on a power play at 13:19, firing a shot from the left circle to put Philadelphia ahead 2-1.
