Will Cuylle scored 2:42 into overtime to lift the New York Rangers past the Seattle Kraken 3-2 on Saturday night, capping New York’s three-game road trip with a perfect finish.
Vladislav Gavrikov and Noah Laba also scored for the Rangers, while Igor Shesterkin made 11 saves in the win. Cuylle added an assist for his fourth straight multi-point game, continuing his strong early-season form.
For Seattle, Chandler Stephenson and Brandon Montour provided the offense, and Joey Daccord made 24 saves. It was the Kraken’s second straight overtime loss and their sixth game of the season decided beyond regulation.
In the extra frame, Cuylle took a pass in the right circle and snapped a precise shot past Daccord, giving the Rangers their third consecutive victory.
The Kraken struggled to generate offense, recording a franchise-record low 13 shots on goal, breaking their previous mark of 17.
Gavrikov opened the scoring midway through the first period with a wrist shot from above the left circle — his first goal as a Ranger since signing a seven-year, $49 million contract on July 1. Stephenson tied it on the power play minutes later, beating Shesterkin from the left circle, but Laba quickly restored the lead just over a minute later by converting a rebound.
Montour tied the game again at 6:59 of the second period with a one-timer from the top of the right circle, marking his third goal in two games. The Rangers nearly regained the lead late in the period on a power play, but the goal was overturned after officials ruled Daccord had been pushed into the net before the puck crossed the line.
