Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each recorded a goal and an assist as the Edmonton Oilers delivered a complete performance in a 4–0 shutout of the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night.
Edmonton responded emphatically after an 8–3 loss to Dallas earlier in the week, getting balanced scoring from its top stars and strong goaltending from Stuart Skinner, who turned aside 26 shots for his second shutout of the season.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins opened the scoring on the power play late in the first period, burying a cross-ice feed from Evan Bouchard for his sixth goal of the year. Draisaitl doubled the lead midway through the second with a shot from the high slot, extending his point streak to eight games.
The Oilers struck again on the man advantage late in the second when a pass from Draisaitl deflected off Zach Hyman’s stick and slipped past Joey Daccord, giving Hyman his first goal of the season. McDavid capped the scoring early in the third with his 11th goal.
Daccord made 21 saves for Seattle, including several early stops during a fast Edmonton start. The Kraken dropped their third straight game, with two of those losses ending in shutouts.
Seattle struggled on special teams, failing to convert on six power-play opportunities, including a lengthy 5-on-3 late in the first period. Edmonton, meanwhile, scored on both of its power plays.
