Dylan Holloway made a big impact in his return from a sprained ankle, recording a hat trick and an assist as the St. Louis Blues defeated the Seattle Kraken 5-1 on Thursday night following the Olympic break.

Joel Hofer stopped 23 shots for the Blues, who snapped a three-game skid. Jordan Kyrou and Holloway — activated off injured reserve earlier in the day — scored 23 seconds apart early in the second period to turn a one-goal game into a 3-1 advantage.

Pius Suter contributed a goal and two assists in the win. Holloway capped off the first hat trick of the season for St. Louis by scoring into an empty net with just over three minutes remaining, giving him 11 goals on the year.

Kaapo Kakko briefly pulled Seattle even at 1-1 in the opening period. Philipp Grubauer made 26 saves for the Kraken, who were coming off a 4-1 road loss to Dallas the night before.

Kyrou broke the tie just 1:12 into the second period, finishing a breakaway setup from Pavel Buchnevich. Holloway followed moments later, jamming the puck past Grubauer during a scramble in front. Suter extended the lead early in the third.

The night also marked a milestone for St. Louis defenseman Cam Fowler, who skated in his 1,100th career NHL game, becoming the 10th active defenseman to reach that mark.
