Dylan Holloway scored the decisive goal in the second period, and the St. Louis Blues snapped the Seattle Kraken’s five-game home winning streak with a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night.
Brayden Schenn played a key role in the win with three assists, while Robert Thomas contributed a goal and an assist. Defenseman Logan Mailloux also scored for St. Louis, which improved to 9-17-3 on the road and secured its second straight road victory against playoff-caliber opponents.
Goaltender Joel Hofer turned aside 34 shots to earn the win. The Blues also defeated Minnesota 3-1 on Sunday, bouncing back after going 2-8-1 in their previous 11 games.
For Seattle, Vince Dunn recorded a goal and an assist, and Jaden Schwartz also found the net. Philipp Grubauer made 24 saves in the loss.
The Kraken had been perfect in their previous five home games, never allowing more than two goals during that stretch. Seattle fell to 2-1 on its current six-game homestand and is now 7-4-0 in its last 11 contests.
Despite the loss, the Kraken still hold the Western Conference’s second wild-card spot and remain just one point behind Edmonton for third place in the Pacific Division, with a game in hand on the Oilers.
Holloway put the Blues ahead 2-1 at 7:40 of the second period with his 12th goal of the season. The 24-year-old recently returned from a sprained ankle and previously led St. Louis with a hat trick in a 5-1 win over Seattle shortly after the Olympic break.
Thomas extended the Blues’ lead early in the third period, scoring just 1:33 into the frame. Dunn later cut the deficit to 3-2 with 6:26 remaining, but Seattle couldn’t find the equalizer.
