Patrick Kane scored early as the Detroit Red Wings blitzed the Seattle Kraken with a fast start en route to a 6-2 victory on Sunday, extending their winning streak to seven games.

Detroit raced to a 4-0 lead within the first 7:53 of the game, with goals from Marco Kasper, J.T. Compher, Alex DeBrincat, and Kane. Erik Gustafsson and Dylan Larkin added second-period tallies to cement the Red Wings’ longest win streak in nearly 13 years.

The Kraken responded with goals from Oliver Bjorkstrand and Matty Beniers, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Detroit’s dominant performance.

Seattle goaltender Philipp Grubauer was pulled after allowing three goals on four shots. Joey Daccord came on in relief and made 16 saves. Cam Talbot stopped 31 shots for Detroit, continuing his strong form during the Red Wings’ streak.

Takeaways

Kraken: Seattle struggled mightily at Little Caesars Arena, where they had previously been 4-0-2. Philipp Grubauer, who was 4-0-1 in his career against Detroit, had an uncharacteristically poor outing, allowing three goals in under eight minutes.

Red Wings: Linemates Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat extended their point streaks to seven games. They’ve combined for 11 goals and 13 assists during Detroit’s win streak.

Key Moment

Detroit’s quick two-goal burst set the tone early. Compher scored 11 seconds after Kasper’s opening goal, redirecting Vladimir Tarasenko’s shot from the boards to give the Red Wings a 2-0 advantage.

Key Stat

The Red Wings were lethal on the power play, converting their first three opportunities. Under coach Todd McLellan, Detroit has gone 14-for-28 on the power play in their last eight games.
