Chandler Stephenson netted the deciding goal in the seventh round of the shootout, leading the Seattle Kraken to a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.
Jaden Schwartz, Michael Eyssimont, and Shane Wright scored during regulation for Seattle, while Tye Kartye added two assists. Philipp Grubauer stopped 20 shots in goal.
Nick Leddy tallied a goal and an assist for the Blues, with Radek Faksa and Colton Parayko scoring. Jordan Binnington made 14 saves in the loss.
In the shootout, Seattle received goals from Eeli Tolvanen, Kaapo Kakko, and Stephenson. Jake Neighbours and Robert Thomas converted for St. Louis. Stephenson’s goal was the winner when Blues rookie Jimmy Snuggerud missed wide left on his attempt.
Faksa opened third-period scoring by tying the game 1-1 at 1:06, converting a rebound from a sharp angle. Eyssimont quickly answered at 6:44, burying a rebound off a Kartye shot.
St. Louis responded with back-to-back goals: Parayko scored on a give-and-go with Thomas at 7:21, and Leddy followed just 13 seconds later with a slap shot through traffic to make it 3-2.
Wright evened the score again at 9:53, redirecting a pass from Jamie Oleksiak off his left skate and into the net.
Schwartz opened the scoring at 3:44 of the second period with his 25th of the season. Leddy blocked his initial pass attempt to Stephenson on a 2-on-2 rush, but Schwartz regained the puck and scored on the open side of the net as Binnington had committed to the pass.
