Jordan Eberle and Matty Beniers each tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Seattle Kraken past the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 on Monday night.
Jamie Oleksiak also scored for Seattle, and goaltender Joey Daccord stopped 29 shots to secure the victory. The win improved the Kraken to 6-2-4 — their best 12-game start in franchise history — and extended their home record to 4-0-2.
Andre Burakovsky, facing his former team for the first time since being traded to Chicago over the summer, scored the lone goal for the Blackhawks. Arvid Söderblom finished with 21 saves in the loss.
Seattle opened the scoring early in the second period when Oleksiak fired a wrist shot from the blue line that slipped through traffic and past Söderblom for his second goal of the season. Moments later, following a tripping penalty to Chicago’s Ryan Donato, the Kraken converted on their first power play just eight seconds into the opportunity. Eberle fed a perfect backhand pass to Beniers in the slot, who buried it for his second goal of the year.
Burakovsky cut the deficit to 2-1 midway through the third on a breakaway set up by Connor Bedard, but Seattle responded late. After a Chicago turnover in the neutral zone, Eberle regained the two-goal cushion with 3:55 remaining, notching his team-leading fifth goal of the season.
The game also marked a milestone for Chicago defenseman Connor Murphy, who appeared in his 500th career NHL game.
