Vince Dunn blasted home a power-play goal just 1:21 into overtime, lifting the Seattle Kraken to a much-needed 3–2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night and snapping a five-game losing streak.
Seattle dramatically forced overtime when Matty Beniers redirected a shot with 25.3 seconds left in regulation, also on a power play. Jared McCann opened the scoring early in the second period, giving the Kraken three power-play goals on the night.
Eeli Tolvanen played a significant role in the rally, setting up both the tying and winning goals. Dunn finished with three points (1 goal, 2 assists), and Joey Daccord made 24 saves.
Kings Strike Short-Handed, But Can’t Close It Out
Alex Laferriere scored a short-handed goal — the Kings’ league-leading sixth of the season — to tie the game 1–1 in the second period. Kevin Fiala put Los Angeles ahead 2–1 late in the third with a power-play marker.
Anton Forsberg held strong for much of the night with 30 saves, but the Kraken capitalized on two late penalties.
How Seattle Completed the Comeback
At 38.8 seconds remaining in regulation, a Forsberg tripping penalty gave Seattle a power-play chance with Daccord already pulled for an extra skater. Tolvanen recovered a Kings turnover and fired the puck toward the crease, where Beniers redirected it in to force overtime.
In the extra frame, Adrian Kempe’s tripping call gave Seattle another man-advantage. Tolvanen slid a cross-ice feed to Dunn at the right circle, and the defenseman hammered a slap shot past Forsberg for the win.
Seattle has now scored power-play goals in three of its last four games after a brief drought.
