Jordan Eberle took over late, scoring the go-ahead goal midway through the third period and adding an empty-netter in the final minute to carry the Seattle Kraken to a 3–1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night.
Frederick Gaudreau also found the net and Kaapo Kakko chipped in with two assists for Seattle, while Philipp Grubauer delivered a standout performance in goal, turning aside 39 shots.
Anaheim’s lone goal came from Mikael Granlund, who continued his strong stretch of play, and Lukas Dostal made 18 saves for the Ducks.
The decisive moment came with 9:56 remaining, when Matty Beniers slipped a pass past defenseman Radko Gudas to a wide-open Eberle. The veteran winger snapped a shot from the left circle into the top corner to put Seattle ahead. Eberle later sealed the victory by burying an empty-net goal with 36 seconds to play.
Seattle opened the scoring early in the second period on the power play. Gaudreau pounced on a rebound from Shane Wright’s shot and flipped it into an open net for a 1–0 lead.
The Ducks responded late in the middle frame when Granlund fought for position in the slot and redirected Jacob Trouba’s point shot past Grubauer, tying the game at 1–1.
Grubauer was especially sharp after the equalizer, making 16 saves in the second period and 15 more in the third to close out the win.
Anaheim played without leading scorer Leo Carlsson, who missed his first game of the season due to a lower-body injury. Seattle was also shorthanded on the blue line, as Brandon Montour is expected to miss four weeks after undergoing hand surgery.
