Shane Pinto recorded a goal and two assists during a decisive scoring run as the Ottawa Senators defeated the Seattle Kraken 7-4 on Saturday night.
Ottawa used a four-goal surge spanning the first and second periods to take control of the game. Goaltender Linus Ullmark made 17 saves as the Senators improved to 3-1 on their current five-game road trip. Ottawa now sits four points behind Boston in the race for the Eastern Conference’s final wild-card spot.
Seattle has now dropped two straight games and four of its last six, though the Kraken still hold the second wild-card position in the Western Conference following San Jose’s overtime loss to the New York Islanders.
Jacob Melanson opened the scoring for Seattle, but Ottawa responded with goals from Tyler Kleven, Dylan Cozens, and Michael Amadio to build momentum.
Eeli Tolvanen cut Seattle’s deficit to 4-2 late in the second period, briefly giving the Kraken hope. However, Ottawa regained control in the third as Warren Foegele, Tim Stützle, and Brady Tkachuk each scored to extend the lead.
Matty Beniers and Brandon Montour added late goals for Seattle. Kraken goaltender Joey Daccord finished with 29 saves.
Seattle also lost forward Jaden Schwartz late in the first period after he was struck in the face by a skate. He did not return to the game.
