Defenseman Brandon Montour scored three goals and added an assist as the Seattle Kraken routed the Montreal Canadiens 8-2 on Tuesday night.

Jaden Schwartz contributed a goal and two assists, while Chandler Stephenson notched four assists to help Seattle snap a three-game losing streak.

Oliver Bjorkstrand and Jamie Oleksiak each had a goal and an assist, with Ryker Evans and Eeli Tolvanen also finding the net. Jared McCann added two assists, and Joey Daccord made 28 saves for Seattle.

The Kraken chased Montreal’s starting goalie, Sam Montembeault, after scoring five goals on 10 shots. Backup Cayden Primeau came in and saved 10 of the next 13 attempts for the Canadiens, who had won their previous two games. Cole Caufield and Josh Anderson scored Montreal’s only goals.

The Kraken capitalized on their first two shots of the game, quickly building a 4-0 lead within the first 10:33. Schwartz and Bjorkstrand each added a goal during Seattle’s dominant opening period.

Montreal, struggling defensively, lost by five goals or more for the second time in four games. Despite entering the game with strong special teams ranked third in penalty killing and seventh in power plays, the Canadiens allowed Seattle to go 3 for 6 with the man advantage. They failed to convert on four power-play opportunities.
