Patrick Kane delivered yet another clutch moment, scoring his NHL-record 53rd career shootout goal to propel the Detroit Red Wings to a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night. The win extended Detroit’s streak to seven games.
Lucas Raymond, Moritz Seider, Jonatan Berggren, and Elmer Soderblom found the back of the net in regulation for the Red Wings, while goaltender Cam Talbot made 23 saves.
Struggling to find consistency, Seattle has dropped four of its last five games. Shane Wright led the way for the Kraken with two goals, while Chandler Stephenson and Matty Beniers also scored. Joey Daccord had a busy night in the net, stopping 36 shots for Seattle.
Seattle Rallies Late, But Detroit Prevails
Detroit appeared to take control when Soderblom extended the Red Wings’ lead to 4-2 early in the third period. However, the Kraken responded with a spirited comeback.
Wright notched his second goal of the night midway through the third, cutting the deficit to one. Then, with just under three minutes left in regulation, Stephenson found the equalizer, sending the game to overtime.
Despite the late push, Seattle couldn’t complete the comeback, as Kane’s decisive shootout goal sealed Detroit’s victory.
