Nate Danielson celebrated a milestone night by recording his first NHL goal and assist, leading a youth-powered effort as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Seattle Kraken 4–2 on Tuesday.

Detroit’s rookies made the difference, especially during a decisive three-goal second period. Lucas Raymond and Emmitt Finnie also found the net in the frame, while Dylan Larkin sealed the outcome with an empty-net goal late. Danielson, Finnie, and fellow rookie defenseman Axel Sandin-Pellikka combined for four points during the middle period as the Red Wings opened a four-game homestand in style.

Danielson, the ninth overall pick in the 2023 draft, put Detroit ahead 2–1 just 45 seconds after Raymond tied the game. Sandin-Pellikka’s long shot caromed off Mason Appleton’s stick and Danielson’s shin pad before slipping past Kraken goalie Joey Daccord.

The 21-year-old rookie nearly had two goals in the period, but one was wiped out following a Seattle offside challenge. He still made his presence felt by threading a sharp pass to Finnie in the slot for a power-play goal that restored Detroit’s lead midway through the second.

Larkin’s late empty-netter marked his 600th career NHL point, set up by Raymond, who recorded a multipoint performance for the fourth straight game. The Red Wings captain has posted two goals and eight assists over his last five outings.

Seattle got on the board late in the first period when Jordan Eberle scored on the power play, and Ryker Evans tied the game early in the second. Eberle also reached the 300-game mark with the Kraken, becoming the fourth player in franchise history to do so.

Daccord made 24 saves in his return after missing five games with an upper-body injury, but Seattle dropped the opener of a four-game road trip.
