Brandon Montour struck with just 50 seconds remaining in overtime, lifting the Seattle Kraken to a 3–2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.
Montour’s wrist shot from the left circle sailed past goaltender Sergei Murashov, sealing Seattle’s fourth win in five games. The Kraken continued their strong stretch, improving to 8-3-3 while collecting points in 11 of their last 14 outings.
Mason Marchment recorded a goal and an assist to reach the 200-point mark in his NHL career, while Matty Beniers also found the net for Seattle. Goaltender Philipp Grubauer turned aside 30 shots in a steady performance.
For Pittsburgh, Sidney Crosby scored his 13th goal of the season and added an assist, becoming the sixth player in NHL history with at least 500 multi-point games. Crosby now sits just two goals shy of tying Dave Andreychuk for 15th on the league’s all-time list. Evgeni Malkin added a power-play goal in the second period.
Seattle opened the scoring early in the second after Marchment capitalized on a turnover, beating Murashov with a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle. Pittsburgh answered later in the period when Connor Dewar intercepted a clearing attempt and set up Crosby for a quick one-timer.
Malkin put the Penguins ahead 2–1 midway through the second by jamming home a loose puck near the post, but Beniers responded late in the period, snapping a shot under the crossbar to force overtime.
Murashov finished with 18 saves, as Pittsburgh dropped its fifth game in six outings and has just two wins in its last nine after a strong start to the season.
