Montour Ends Goal Drought with Two as Kraken Cruise Past Sharks 6-2

Brandon Montour snapped a 20-game goal drought with two second-period tallies, leading the Seattle Kraken to a dominant 6-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night.

The Kraken broke the game open with four goals in the second period, pulling away for their 12th win in 13 games when scoring at least four goals.

Chandler Stephenson, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Jaden Schwartz, and Eeli Tolvanen also found the net for Seattle, while Joey Daccord made 26 saves. Stephenson also added two assists in the win.

Carl Grundstrom and Tyler Toffoli scored for the struggling Sharks, who have now lost six of their last seven.

San Jose goaltender Yaroslav Askarov was pulled in the second period after allowing four goals on 11 shots. Alexandar Georgiev took over and stopped 20 shots in relief.

Stephenson put Seattle ahead just 3:55 into the game, but Grundstrom tied it late in the first when his shot deflected off Kraken center Shane Wright.

Seattle erupted in the second period, starting with Montour’s first goal at 2:54 to give the Kraken a 3-1 lead. He struck again just over five minutes later, pushing the lead to 5-1. Bjorkstrand also added a goal late in the period to put Seattle firmly in control.

Just moments after exiting the penalty box, Schwartz’s goal in the third sealed the win and electrified the crowd.
