Charlie Coyle buried the shootout winner and the Columbus Blue Jackets ended their four-game slide with a 2–1 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night.

Kirill Marchenko also scored in the shootout and assisted on Adam Fantilli’s late second-period power-play goal that tied the game. Fantilli capitalized during a 5-on-3 advantage, which came moments after he was cross-checked into the net by Seattle defenseman Ryan Lindgren.

Columbus goaltender Jet Greaves, making his second straight start, turned aside 22 shots in regulation and stopped three of four attempts in the shootout to earn his first career shootout win.

Ryan Winterton scored the lone goal for Seattle, wiring in a snapshot from the left circle with 3:17 remaining in the first period. Third-string Kraken goalie Matt Murray, filling in for the injured Joey Daccord, was excellent despite the loss — stopping 33 shots and allowing only the 5-on-3 tally.

The Kraken have now dropped two straight and three of their last four, and continue to lead the NHL in overtime appearances with eight through their first 15 games.

Coyle’s shootout tally marked the 11th shootout winner of his career.

Columbus captain Boone Jenner left the game early in the second period with an upper-body injury.
